The parish council is considering how best to focus its efforts over the next few years. Initial suggestions include affordable housing, pedestrian safety, and so on. We are hoping that groups might come together to work on such issues. If you wish you may contact the council chairman Chris Wright directly on 361206 wrightchris@aol.com or you can use the comment form on http://communityplan.garsington.org.uk
The village hall is nearly complete and will be open for business next month. The monthly parish council meeting on May 14th will be held there.

Planning applications on the web
Planning applications are detailed on the district's web site,
http://www.southoxon.gov.uk To see any current applications, click on Services and Advice. Then under Planning and Building click on View applications, roughly in the middle of the next page which appears. Then click on view current applications via the Planning Application Register which appears in the middle of the next page which appears. If you know the reference number click on Search by reference number, otherwise click on Search by location and date. In the search screen for search by location and date, select Garsington in the top box, then set the date range appropriately. You should get all the applications which have been registered in that date range.
Garsington is a village in Oxfordshire, some 5 miles south east of Oxford. It is a village of hills and narrow roads. The ground rises from 200 feet at the foot of the hill to 431 feet at the highest point of the ridge. We have magnificent views in all directions, the Chilterns to the east, Oxford to the west and the Berkshire Downs with Wittenham Clumps to the south.
The village is home to over 2,000 people, and has no local shop or newsagent. However, it does have 2 pubs, an estate agents, car repair centre, hairdressers and a garden centre. Both of the pubs serve food daily, The Red Lion and the Three Horseshoes. It also has a local Church of England primary school that performs well in SATs. We have a fine Memorial Playing Field with a Sports and Social Club.
Our South Oxfordshire district councillor is Elizabeth Gillespie and on Oxfordshire County Council our interests are represented by David Turner. Our Member of Parliament is John Howells.
